The space to leave around a reformer
The machine is only part of the footprint. Clients step on from the side, ropes run to the head end and the carriage travels 1.1 m. Our planner leaves 0.8 m between machines side by side, 1 m between rows and 0.5 m from walls, which works out at roughly 5 to 7 m² of floor per reformer in a full room.

Folded dimensions: doors, stairs and storage
- Through doors: folded, the machine is 65 cm wide and 36.6 cm deep, narrower than most standard UK internal doors. Castors at both ends let one person wheel it.
- Height: 123.5 cm folded, so it needs no special ceiling height. It can also lie flat, 39.6 cm high: see our folding reformer guide.
- Storage: along a wall, allow 36.6 cm per machine plus about 10 cm between them: six machines take about 2.7 m of wall.
- Delivery: each machine arrives crated at about 110 kg, to the kerb by a tail-lift lorry. Out of the crate it weighs 79 kg; plan two people to carry one up stairs.
What to check on any reformer specification sheet
- Length and width in use, and the length of rail.
- Bed height: higher beds are easier to step onto, lower ones feel more stable.
- Carriage travel: how far the carriage moves along the rail.
- Maximum user load.
- Folded footprint, if it folds, and whether it stands upright or lies flat.
- Net weight and crated weight, for delivery and moving.
- Number and resistance of the springs.
- Frame material and the length of the frame warranty.
