Pilates studio design ideas

Five choices that shape a reformer studio, from the upholstery colour to a room that changes during the day.

In short: a reformer studio's design comes down to five choices: the upholstery colour, your logo on the machines, soft and even lighting, mirrors on the right wall and a layout that leaves the instructor a clear view. Try them all in the 3D planner before you commit.

1. Choose the upholstery colour with the room

The reformers are the largest objects in the room, so their colour sets the mood. Our five upholstery colours, all on a white aluminium frame:

ColourCodeWorks well with
Light taupe362Warm wood floors, neutral walls
Mocha taupe302Earthy, warmer palettes
Black308Contrast, dark accents, a stronger brand look
Cream02Light, airy rooms
Slate grey319Cool or minimal interiors

Suggestions only: compare them in your own room in the 3D planner.

Clients photograph the studio; your logo on every machine shows up in those photos. We apply it at the factory as a heat-applied printed decal, free from one machine. You can also show it on the wall in the planner.

3. Light and mirrors

4. A layout that works

Rows facing the instructor, staggered rows or machines around the walls: the three layouts and the space each machine needs are in our studio layout guide.

5. A room that changes during the day

If your reformers fold, plan where they stand when folded, and keep that wall free of radiators and shelves. Six machines need about 2.7 m of wall. More in our folding reformer guide and the full studio equipment list.
